MahiMap ("the Application", "we", "our") is an offline-first tactical Geographic Information System (GIS) application providing coordinate conversion, topographic map sheet lookup, point-to-point line-of-sight calculations, and tactical navigation. We are deeply committed to respecting and protecting the privacy and security of our users.

1. Zero Remote Data Collection (Local-First Architecture)

MahiMap is built with a strictly local-first, privacy-by-design architecture:

No Account Required: You can use all core navigational, calculation, and mapping features of MahiMap without registering an account.
No Analytics or Ad Tracking: We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or commercial telemetry services.
No Remote Transmission of User Data: Coordinates, map calculations, and bookmarks are executed directly within your client device's browser or native runtime.

2. Device Permissions and Location Data Usage

MahiMap requests device Geolocation / GPS permissions (such as ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION on Android and the standard browser Geolocation API):

Purpose: Location data is used exclusively to:
- Display your current position (Own Position / OP) on the tactical map.
- Calculate real-time elevation and nearest Survey of India / Topographic map sheet numbers (1:50k and 1:250k).
- Convert your coordinates into Decimal Degrees (DD), Degrees-Minutes-Seconds (DMS), Indian Everest Grid Reference (DSM), and GEOREF formats.
- Calculate line-of-sight (LOS) and bearing between your position and designated tactical targets or bookmarks.
Ephemeral Processing: Your live GPS location is processed strictly in real-time in your device's memory. It is never transmitted to our servers, Cloudflare, Microsoft, Google, or any third party.
Revocability: You can grant or revoke location permissions at any time through your device's operating system settings or browser permissions menu.

3. Local Data Storage & User Control

Bookmarks & Waypoints: Points you manually save or import are stored exclusively in your device's local web storage (localStorage).
Export & Backup: You have full control over your saved data. You can export all saved bookmarks into a local JSON file at any time.
Data Deletion: Deleting a bookmark or clicking the "Reset" button inside the app immediately and permanently deletes the corresponding records from your device's local storage.

4. Third-Party Map Tiles & Caching

To render base maps, MahiMap requests standard public map tiles (e.g. OpenStreetMap, ESRI/ArcGIS World Imagery). These requests are standard HTTPS web requests for image tiles. Map tiles may be cached locally by MahiMap's Service Worker to enable offline navigation.

5. Compliance with Store Policies

Google Play Store: Complies with Google Play Developer Program Policies regarding Location in the Background, Prominent Disclosure, and Data Safety.
Microsoft Store: Complies with Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement Section 10.5 regarding User Data and Privacy.
